about us
Welcome to my site!
This is how it came about. In 2019 I was looking online for advice about my adolescent standard dachshund, Scout, she had seemingly forgotten everything she had ever learned!
I came across Absolute Dogs and loved their games-based approach to training. My relationship with Scout grew stronger in spite of those adolescent hormones. In fact, I was so hooked I signed up to the Pro Dog Trainer program and the science-based behaviour program, Pro Dog Trainer Geek.
A year later along came Saffy, a working cocker spaniel and OH MY GOODNESS I was tested again, to a whole new level! I am so convinced that this is THE best way to train dogs I want to share the knowledge and what I have learnt as a Pro Dog Trainer.
I am still learning through Absolute Dogs – and have now become a proud partner of Absolute Dogs. I can’t wait to share!
What can you expect from our training?
At On Cue we use positive, reward-based training – but don’t expect the traditional Stay, Sit, Heel. A ‘sit’ does not teach your dog to:
- Walk nicely on a lead
- Recall when you call them
- Be comfortable around new sights and noises
- Choose to stay close rather than bog off to make their own fun (the choices are endless!) at the first opportunity.
In short, training these behaviours does not prepare them for the real world.
Your dog behaves in a certain way based on the skills they have, or lack. For example, your dog may be anxious and worried – how about we play some games to build confidence so they are able to cope with whatever life throws at them. We call these skills Concepts.
Welcome to Concept Training!
Concept Training goes beyond just training behaviours, and a happy side effect is it builds a stronger bond with your dog. Who doesn’t want that?
Still want a Sit, Stay or Down? Of course you do! We can train these behaviours too! But they only work in the real world if built on a strong foundation of confidence, optimism, focus to name but a few concepts.
